Jennifer Winn

Voice Type: Soprano
Website:
http://www.jenniferjwinn.com
Soprano Jennifer Winn has performed with numerous regional companies throughout the U.S. including Boheme Opera NJ, Opera North, Opera Memphis, Syracuse Opera, Operafest! of New Hampshire, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Ashlawn-Highland Summer Music Festival. She has also been the recipient of several awards for her singing. As a two-time regional finalist with the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Ms. Winn had the additional honor of receiving the “Stage Presence Award” in 2000. Her opera roles include Micaela in “Carmen”, Pamina in “The Magic Flute”, Konstanze in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”, and Donna Anna in “ Don Giovanni”. Most recently, she premiered the title role in Peter Westergaard's new opera “Alice in Wonderland”, with the Center for Contemporary Opera at Symphony Space in Manhattan. Handling the role with supreme charisma and finesse, the reviewers called Ms.Winn "an appealingly childlike Alice" and commented on her keen sense of pitch in this clever, but extremely difficult, angular vocal score. This was a reprise of the role, having performed it in the semi-staged “reading” of the opera in 2006, under the direction of Beth Greenburg of NYC Opera. This dramatically fantastical adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic earned Jennifer favorable reviews in The New York Times.

Other recent performances have included the Second Soprano in the Bach Minor Mass with the Rhode Island Civic Chorale & Orchestra, Mrs. Hayes in Carlyle Floyd's “Susannah!” with Boheme Opera NJ, excerpts from “La Boheme” (Mimi) and “Rigoletto” (Gilda) with the Boheme Opera NJ Orchestra for their opera gala, the Soprano Soloist in both the Mozart Requiem and the Saint Saëns' Christmas Oratorio with the Middletown City Chorale in New York. Always in demand as a popular recitalist, Winn has performed opera galas and cabaret programs at the Diamond Opera Theater in Hudson NY and the South Mountain Theater Works in Bloomfield, NJ, as well as programs in Venice Beach, FL and Princeton, NJ.
