Singers Helping Singers

We have all watched in horror and helplessness at the recent devastation in New Orleans and other parts of the South. CS would like to help be part of the solution for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Give Needed Items/Ask for Needed Items
Audition season is fast approaching, and how can a singer manage if all her scores washed away? What if a singer were hired for a concert but now her evening gown or his tux are underwater? Many universities are accepting students, but what if a displaced singer studied privately and is now unable to reach his teacher?

Singers can help by giving free voice lessons, offering needed music, loaning a performance gown or tux, or anything else of need.

In order to use this service you must agree to these terms and conditions.

Put on a Benefit Concert
Just as singers raised money for Tsunami relief last January, singers can give benefit recitals to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims. Deborah Bertling and other singers in Santa Barbara, CA raised over $11,000 to aid Tsunami survivors from just one concert (see article).

You can do it either by yourself, with a company or with a group of talented singers. If you don't feel your talents would be a draw right now, or you don't have repertoire ready, then use your talents to organize other singers, musicians or help a group in your area to put on the concert.

"How to Organize a Non-Profit Benefit Concert" handbook describes how to contact the most influential people, how to and if you should set up a non-profit organization for this function, how to get the facilities, sell tickets and suggests ways you and fellow singers can provide the great music you sing to inspire people in this necessary humanitarian effort. It shows how to get matching corporate funds to double and quadruple whatever comes in from ticket sales.
