AudComps gives
you:
Jobs - Instead of
paying for multiple audition tours, audition for multiple opera companies in
one location. Some winners will receive guaranteed contracts with companies such as Sacramento Opera, Opera Fort Collins and AIMS. Money - Compete for $15,000 in prizes. Prizes - NEW THIS YEAR!!! First Place winners from each division receive a recording session with Gurari Studios AND a headshot session with Devon Cass Photography. Certification - Become
a Certified Classical Singer, which lets the world know you are ready
for Professional Opportunities. Feedback - Get feedback
in the areas you need improvement, from many qualified sources and have a yearly
barometer by which you can measure your vocal progress. Performances - Finalists will compete in a formal setting in front of Convention participants. First-place winners will perform at the Closing Session of this year's Convention as well as at the Opening Session of the 2009 Convention.
The AudComps contains
three rounds of events. Only the best will compete in the Final Round and receive
$15,000 in cash prizes.
Singers chosen by the Final Round Judges in the Emerging Professional and Professional Divisions will
also receive the exclusive ranking of a Certified
Classical Singer.
Age Limits - There are none!
Singers for all Artist Divisions must be at least 17 years
old as of May 23, 2008. (Singers younger than 17 can compete in the College Expo.)
We have 3 Artist Divisions this year: Young Artist, Emerging Professional, and Professional. Singers now can select their artist division, based on where they are in their careers in comparison with the Division Profiles and Contract Prizes being offered. These division profiles are guidelines to help you figure out which category you belong in – they are just suggestions. No one will fit perfectly in one category, but you will probably identify more with one category than another. View Profiles
