February 8, 2008 - EARLY BIRD APPLICATION DEADLINE. To apply with the lower application fee, make sure your materials are in our office by this date. You may apply online or by mailing in your application.
March 3, 2008 - FINAL APPLICATION DEADLINE. Make sure your materials are in our office by this date. You may apply online or by mailing in your application. The Pre-Screening Round now begins. Best wishes! <<Application Alert: Deadline extended to Thursday, March 13 due to a "Typo in Your Favor.">>
April 21, 2008 - The Pre-Screening Round is complete and you will be notified if you are selected to advance to the next round.
May 23-24, 2008 (Friday-Saturday) - Semi-Final Rounds for all division - This is the first time artists will sing before a judging panel. For a list of judges, see “This Year's Judges.” Singers should come prepared with five contrasting arias, but expect to sing only one aria. When time allows, a second aria will be asked from the list. Throughout the event, an accompanist will be provided at no additional charge, but you may bring your own. Singers will be notified by the end of the 24th as to who will advance to the next round. A list will be posted at the Convention, via phone, and online. Please note: most if not all singers will sing on May 24th. May 23rd is reserved as an overflow date.
May 25, 2008 (Sunday) - Two events will be held this day:
The Emerging Professional andYoung Artist Division Final Semi-Formal Concert Round - This semi-formal concert will take place on Sunday afternoon. It is open to the public. Opera house, summer program and young artist program directors will be in attendance. An accompanist is provided and singers will be able to rehearse with that accompanist prior to the concert. All prizes will be announced at the Closing Session of the Convention on Monday morning.
The Professional Artist Division Final Formal Concert Round - This concert is a main Convention event on Sunday evening. It is open to the public. Opera house directors will be in attendance. An accompanist is provided and singers will be able to rehearse with that accompanist prior to the concert. All prizes will be announced at the Closing Session of the Convention on Monday morning.
May 26, 2008 (Monday) - One event will be held this day:
The Closing Session of the Convention - Winners from all divisions will be announced, cash, contract and audience choice prizes awarded and the first place singer from each division will be asked to sing.
Most singers from the Professional and Emerging Professional Divisions who advance to their Final Round will also receive the exclusive ranking of a Certified Classical Singer.
