Cash Prizes, University Scholarships,
and Summer Program Awards

  • First Round at a Live Location or via the Online Round before April 1.
  • Second, Semifinal, and Final Rounds at the CS Convention in Chicago, May 21-24, 2015.

New Divisions:

  • Mix/Belt
    • Chest voice dominant that incorporates a speech-level style of singing and involves a narrowing and a brightening of sound. Traditional and contemporary stylistic elements allowed.

  • Legit
    • Head register dominant, classically sung with a lyrical style. Vocal tone will have chiaroscuro fullness, vowels and consonants will have clarity of sound that is more sung than spoken, and vibrato will be active throughout the phrases.

  • High School Mix/Belt
    • Ages 14 - 18 as of May 25, 2015.
    • Cannot be enrolled in a university program.
    • Prize Money:
      • $700 First Place
      • $350 Second Place
      • $250 Third Place

  • High School Legit
    • Ages 14 - 18 as of May 25, 2015.
    • Cannot be enrolled in a university program.
    • Prize Money:
      • $700 First Place
      • $350 Second Place

  • University-Young Artist Mix/Belt
    • Ages 18 - 32 as of May 25, 2015.
    • Prize Money:
      • $1,000 First Place
      • $400 Second Place
      • $300 Third Place

  • University-Young Arstit Legit
    • Ages 18 - 32 as of May 25, 2015.
    • Prize Money:
      • $1,000 First Place
      • $400 Second Place
      • $300 Third Place

Repertoire/Acting

  • Selections can come from Broadway, off-Broadway, and revival shows.
  • Singers should also be able to demonstrate strong acting abilities as appropriate to the literature.

First Round

  • Live Locations (View)
    • November, 2014 - April, 2015
    • More than 30 different locations.
    • Deadline for each location is the day before or when a location fills up (space varies at each location).
    • Daytime audition attire is appropriate.
    • The top half or all qualified scores from each location advance to the Second Round in Chicago at the CS Convention, May 21-24.
    • Singers can participate at multiple locations (both live and online), but they need to register separately for each application.

  • Online Application (More Details)
    • Complete an application via AuditionsPlus.com.
    • Submit your application with your audio/video recordings any time before May 1, 2015.
    • Receive a scored evaluation and written feedback from university faculty.
    • Qualified scores (at least the top half) advance to the Second Round.

Final Rounds at the CS Convention

  • May 21-24, 2015
  • Sheraton Hotel in Chicago, IL
  • No additional registration fee, but participants are responsible for their own travel, room, and board.

Registration Fee

  • $75, includes:
    • All rounds of the Competition.
    • Accompanist if needed.
    • College Expo Recruiting Fair, High School & University Masterclasses at the CS Convention.
