First Round Regional Date:  
Saturday, March 20, 2010

Scholarship Opportunity :  
The Hugh Hodgson School of Music has scholarship funding available to those students who are accepted into the school and are enrolled as vocal majors.

First Round Prize:  
The Athena Opera/Hugh Hodgson School of Music will offer a first round prize of $500 to the first place winner in addition to free voice lessons in preparation for the second round.

Competition Schedule:  
11 a.m. - 6 p.m. with a one hour lunch break from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Check in at least one hour prior to your competition time.

Parking for the event will be in the music school parking lot E11 adjacent to the building. Entrance into the music school for Edge Hall should be at the top of the small hill and across from the Performing Arts Center. Edge Hall is located on the third floor next to the music library.

Special Events:  
The Athena Opera/UGA Opera Ensemble will be presenting the Spring Opera offering in the Performing Arts Center Hodgson Hall at 8:00 pm on Friday March 19, 2010. Participants in the Classical Singer Competition will have access to complimentary tickets to this performance by contacting Frederick Burchinal, Director of Opera.

About University of Georgia:

The University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music is home to approximately four hundred fifty students and a faculty of sixty-five. The School offers a wide variety of degree programs from baccalaureate through doctoral levels, as well as many opportunities for all UGA students to participate in ensembles and academic classes. Each year the School offers more than three hundred performances that are open to the public. The Hodgson School of Music is part of the Performing and Visual Arts Complex that includes the five-story music building, the Performing Arts Center, the Georgia Museum of Art, and the recently completed Lamar Dodd School of Art. The vocal department at UGA includes multiple choruses, a comprehensive opera program presenting two full opera and two chamber opera productions each year. Graduate Assistantships are available by audition.
