Posting
Courtesy and Respect The purpose of this board is to provide a place for singers to make connections, exchange information and assist and encourage one another. It is above all a professional environment for discussion and debate.
Why can't I tell this guy what an idiot he is; every single thing he posts is just so wrong? But he started the fight by attacking me! Can't I defend myself? Okay, so how do I report someone for making a personal attack? So, what is the difference between disagreeing and being attacked? I'm a singer posting anonymously on this Forum, and there is a thread where people are saying they don't like my singing! Isn't that a personal attack? This Forum is a place to exchange information; it is not your personal soapbox. The goal is to teach and to learn, not to beat down the opposition. This is supposed to be an enjoyable place to discuss an art that we love, not a battlefield! If you find that you are arguing in circles, then agree to disagree and move along. Why can't I tell a poster that he's breaking the rules? Why can't I curse? We're all adults here, right?[Return] [Top] Posting
Think before you post. If you have something of substance to say that was inspired by a thread but has nothing to do with the topic, start a new thread and share there. If you post and then think of something to add or see something that needs correction, edit your original post instead of posting a second time (or a third). Look for the icon of the sheet of paper with the pencil above your post and use it. If your post is the most recent one in the thread but 72 hours have passed since you posted it, then adding a new post is fine. This isn't an English class, and we have no intention of blasting posters for spelling errors or the occasional bit of bad grammar. But please don't use things like "2" for "to" or "U" for "you", and don't type your messages in all lower case or all upper case letters or without any punctuation. It's hard to read, and can be especially confusing to our members who aren't native English speakers. If it's a long post, a carriage return or two is recommended. If you want people to know about your really great site or product, feel free to buy an ad in Classical Singer magazine. The Forum is not the place to sell yourself or your goods. Classical Singer can get in trouble if you post copyrighted material, so please don't. Post a link, instead. Why can't I talk about the boards? I just wanted to say how cool Posters X, Y and Z are! Check through the most recent 10 pages of threads to see if the topic you want to start exists already. Odds are very, very good that a "Who's Your Favorite Singer?" thread already exists. Thread names such as "I Need Help!" or "What Do YOU Think?" aren't very helpful to a poster trying to decide if they want to spend their valuable Internet time reading your thread. Try to use a name that gives a more complete idea of the topic of discussion: "Trying to Find Score for Obscure Mozart Variation" or "Puccini v. Verdi" are better choices. You'll probably get more responses, too.[Return] [Top] Terms of Use You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.
