American Bass Benjamin LeClair is a recent alum of San Francisco’s prestigious Merola Opera Program. While in residence there last summer he performed Superintendant Budd in Albert Herring and appeared on the San Francisco Opera house stage in a concert of arias and scenes. Upcoming performances include Banco in Macbeth, Pistola in Falstaff, and the Four Villains in Les Contes des Hoffmann, all with Opera in the Heights in Houston.Recently he appeared in Salome (Florentine Opera), St. Matthew Passion (Music of the Baroque), and the title roles in both Le Nozze di Figaro (Opera in the Heights), and Boris Godunov (Northwestern University's Russian Opera Ensemble).Mr. LeClair’s repertoire also includes the title role in Don Giovanni, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Mephistofeles in Faust, Seneca in the L’Incoronazione di Poppea, Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Colline in La Bohème, Ferrando in Il Trovatore, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Verdi’s Requiem, and Jesus in both Passions of Bach, among other roles and concert works.
