John Wustman Coach/Accompanist January 2009 Lyrisches Amerika – Von der Revolution bis ins 21. Jahrhundert Sponsored by the U.S. State Department Frances Fenton completely won the audience with her dramatic soprano, equally strong in all registers. From the beginning through all 22 songs and arias, this was truly an international evening! Ms. Fenton took us through every emotion. She sang the aria from “Every Doubt and Danger Over” from Leonora with drama and intensity and then sang “Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair” so delicately and softly that we could almost see Jeannie’s hair in the breeze. Who can forget the tragedy of “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” or the following energetic call for freedom and union? Her songs in German went straight to the heart – evoking irresistible longing to worldly melancholy.........Highest praise! Memminger Zeitung March, 2009 “On behalf of the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, I wish to thank you for the magnificent performances.........The audiences were clearly thrilled with your singing.....” Dr. Helena Kane Finn Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs |
