Katie Kat is a singing actor and self made ĎOpera-preneureí.
Her performances have combined classical opera with electronic music, Rock and Roll, Rap, Indian music, dance, and more.
She is currently the featured Musician for the Off Broadway Immersive show, The Illuminati Ball, where she sings Opera, R&B, and co wrote an exclusive performance track with rapper Prodigy of Mobb Deep. A recent review in Gothamist celled her Exquisite .
Katie Kat is a dedicated and meticulous performer with training in theatrical magic, Shakespeare, Stage Combat, Dance and music. She has worked with such influential teachers as Teller (of Penn and Teller), Bobby McFarrin, Frederica Von Stade, Nico Castel, Enza Ferrari, and Grant Weanus.
She has performed for Off Broadway Immersive Theater, Festivals, Conventions, Exclusive events, and at The NYU Skirball Center, Lincoln Centerís David Rubenstein Atrium, The Teatro Caio Melisso in Spoleto Italy.
Katie was awarded a masters degree in Opera Performance, as well as an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU. As a voice teacher and researcher; she recently gave a TEDx Speech on the necessity of singing.
She was a NYFA Entrepreneur Bootcamp Scholar in 2012 for her work producing avant-garde operatic performances, and makes it her mission to present opera in new ways to venues where it is an elegant, delighting, and mystical surprise.
Recent traditional operatic roles include; Dvorakís Rusalka (Rusalka) Mozartís Le nozze di Figaro (Marcellina, Countess), Cosi Fan Tutte (Despina), Weilís Street Scene (Anna Maurrant), Menottiís The Telephone (Lucy), Purcellís Dido and Aneas (Belinda)and The Fairy Queen (Night, The Plaint).
