Photo by Beowulf Sheehan Jenny Searles, Soprano, is a native of Zionsville, Indiana. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Butler University, where she studied with her mother, Sharon Searles. Miss Searles continued her vocal studies at Southern Methodist University where she received her Master of Music degree, and Indiana University where she worked toward a Performer’s Diploma. Recent professional engagements include Die Frau in Schoenberg's Erwartung with Manhattan Opera Repertory Theater, Woglinde in Das Rheingold , First Lady in The Magic Flute and Frasquita in Carmen with Indianapolis Opera, Nedda in Pagliacci with The Bronx Opera, Alice Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff in the matinee performance with Opera North, and Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto with Des Moines Metro Opera. Jenny performed regularly with Indianapolis Opera while completing their Young Artist Program in 2006-2007. Other roles include Susannah in Floyd’s Susannah, Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Helena in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica. Miss Searles also recently traveled to Stockholm to perform Argento’s From the Diary of Virginia Woolf, which was staged by Håkan Hagegård. Jenny also sang the world premier of Samuel Adler’s Recalling the Yesterdays with the Voices of Change in Dallas, Texas in 2004 as well as the American Premier of Sven-David Sandström’s Mölna Elegy in Bloomington, Indiana.
