Jill Opal Oliver, an emerging soprano, is a native of Detroit, Michigan and a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. Miss Oliver successfully completed her studies receiving a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance. Jill was accepted and she has attended The International Lyric Academy in Rome and Viterbo, Italy. She has worked with the Maestro and Coach preparing her arias and duets from among the repertoire: La Traviata, Rigoletto, and Elisir d'Amore. In addition, Jill has performed in the Tuscia Operafestival's Concerto Lirico "OPERA SOTTO LE STELLE" and the "OPERA GRAN GALA'" in Viterbo/Rome, Italy.

Miss Oliver’s performing experience is extensive and varied. Just recently, Miss Oliver has performed in the opera production, "Porgy and Bess" for the Opera Grand Rapids at the DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Miss Oliver has performed as a concert soloist for the "25th Annual Festival of Trees: A Benefit for Children's Hospital of Michigan" held at the Allen Park Municipal Auditorium in Allen Park, Michigan. While a student at Eastern Michigan University, she performed as a member of the EMU Chamber Choir and the University Choir under the direction of the late Dr. Leonard Riccinto. In addition, Miss Oliver made her operatic debut singing “Summertime” in a concert recorded version of “Porgy and Bess”a by George Gershwin. She has been featured on EMU’s Cable Channel 10 singing the spiritual “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel”a by H.T. Burleigh and “Beau Soir” by Claude Debussy.

Miss Oliver has performed as a recitalist and in the summer opera training experiences. For three years, Miss Oliver participated in Michigan Opera Theatre’s Summer Opera Camp. As a member of the troupe of singers, her roles included “Susannah and Barbarina” from “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Pamina” from “The Magic Flute” by Mozart.

Miss Oliver was equally busy with performing for three years with the famed Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit during her high school years. As a member of the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, she and her colleagues were selected to perform as the U.S. Representative to the World Festival of Children’s Theatre in London, England and Copenhagen, Denmark. Miss Oliver was selected to be a member of the Regional IV Honors Choir and the State Honors Choir sponsored by the Michigan School Vocal Music Association. As a youngster, Miss Oliver performed with the Oakland Singers and with Paper Bag Productions in several musicals, i.e.: Rip Van Winkle, Cinderella, and the Wizard of Oz. Miss Oliver has also sung the National Anthem for the University of Phoenix Metro Campus Commencement Graduation Ceremony held at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan.

Jill was a third place runner-up for the NANBWP Inc. district vocal competition (formally known as the Leontyne Price Vocal Competition). A recipient of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association (MSVMA), Regional C Honors Choir in 2000 and State Honors Choir in 2001.
