Praised in the Washington Post for her "special sparkle," Pamela Butler brings an expressiveness of tone and stage presence to every performance. Her agile mezzo voice with its resounding upper extension has enabled her to excel in the works of composers such as Mozart, Rossini, Haydn, Handel, and Purcell, among others.

Pamela's keen interest in British history and literature brought her to a second career in singing via the works of her heroes, Gilbert & Sullivan. She now specializes in the genre, having sung at least one role from ten of the 13 operas in their canon. She hopes to perform them all someday soon!

A trip to Russia sparked her interest in composers such as Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, and she began to study the music and the language. She gave her first Russian-language performance in 2005 as Filipyevna in Bel Cantanti's Eugene Onegin to critical acclaim.

Pam has also brought years of business financial and marketing experience to the arts as a board member and advisor to regional companies. In March 2007, she was appointed as an Arts Commissioner for the Town of Leesburg, VA. She's also served as the founding president of Loudoun Lyric Opera since its inception in April 2007.

She is an accomplished guitarist as well as a singer, and especially enjoys lecturing and performing for senior citizens' organizations!
