Dr. Lisa Sain Odom is a multi-faceted singer and actress with credits in a wide variety of genres including opera, musical theater, jazz and concert repertoire, as well as film, television and commercials.
As a film actress, Lisa has appeared in numerous indie films in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Maryland. She is also a popular voice over actress and in demand for industrial videos and commercials. She has appeared in the feature films Leatherheads (George Clooney, dir.), Hall Pass (Farrelly Bros, dir.) and For Colored Girls (Tyler Perry, dir.) and in the television series' Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva. Recent operatic performances include Papagena in The Magic Flute with the Greenville Opera, Angelina, the Plaintiff in Trial by Jury with Greenville Light Opera Works, Musetta in La Boheme and Monica in Menotti's The Medium.
Favorite musical roles include Julie Jordan (Carousel), Jeanie (Brigadoon), Sister Sophia (The Sound of Music), Rose (The Secret Garden), Chairy Barnum (Barnum!), and the Baker’s Wife (Into the Woods).
Dr. Odom is equally comfortable on the concert stage and has served as soprano soloist for works such as Handel's Messiah, the Fauré Requiem, Bach’s cantata Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, Pergolesi's Stabat mater and Kurt Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins.
In the summer of 2006 Dr. Odom performed and taught as a NATS Intern in Kansas City, MO, and later in the summer she appeared with the Opera Studio for Singers with the AIMS program in Graz, Austria where she served as soprano soloist in a performance of Mozart's Missa Brevis. In the summer of 2008 she was certified in all three levels of Somatic Voicework: The Lovetri method(tm).
Dr. Odom teaches voice at Clemson University and has served on the faculties of North Greenville University,Western Carolina University, and the Lawson Academy at Converse College. She recently served as the musical director for Clemson University's production of Rent.
Upcoming engagments include a supporting role in the film Dancing Lessons and a supporting role in the television pilot Home produced by New Daydream Films. She recently completed filming a commercial for the product Pouchee and sang a Christmas concert with her soprano trio "The Blonde, the Brunette, and the Redhead."
