Patricia O'Keefe is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of North Texas where she studies with mezzo-soprano Jennifer Lane (Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera). Miss O'Keefe holds the Master of Music in Voice Performance degree from the University of Texas at Austin where she studied with Russian bass Nikita Storojev (Bolshoi Opera, La Scala) and coached regularly with tenor William Lewis (Metropolitan Opera, La Scala). Her voice has been described by the internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Mignon Dunn as possessing an "unusually rich, dark timbre." Miss O'Keefe recently had the priviledge of preparing for the role of Suor Angelica with the great Polish soprano Teresa Zylis-Gara who performed the role to great acclaim.Recent performances include La Contessa in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with the Amadeus Opernensemble of Salzburg, Austria, the role of Susan B. Anthony in Virgil Thompson's The Mother of us All with the University of Texas Butler Opera Ensemble, An Evening of Song: a Master's Recital and the role of Suor Angelica in the UT Butler Opera Center Ensemble production of Puccini's Suor Angelica. |
