Melissa Block is a mezzo-soprano from Commack, New York. She has a Bachelors of Music in Voice, a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish and a Master of Music in Voice from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Melissa performed the roles of Meg Page in Verdiís Falstaff, Pitti-Sing in The Mikado, Hansel in Humperdinckís opera Hansel and Gretel, Mrs. Page in Niccolai Geddaís Merry Wives of Windsor, Angelina in Rossiniís La Cenerentola and Cherubino in Mozartís Le Nozze di Figaro under the tutelage of Patricia Stiles and Carol Vaness. She has been a choral singer in productions of Susannah (2007); La Traviata (2008); Cendrillon (2009); Romeo et Juliette (2009) and La Rondine (2010). Her mainstage roles include Barbarina in Mozartís Le Nozze di Figaro, Princess Linetta in Prokofievís The Love for Three Oranges, and Third Lady in Mozartís Die ZauberflŲte.

Melissa sang the roles of Hansel (Hansel and Gretel), Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Dorabella (Cosž fan tutte) in New York Lyric Opera Theaterís 2010-2011 season. For the 2012 summer season, Melissa was chosen as a Professional Fellow for the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival 2012 where she sang the role of Third Lady.

In October 2012, Melissa sang the New York premiere of Ofer Ben-Amat's Songs from the Pomegranate Garden with the Metro Chamber Orchestra. She kicked off the 2013 season as Zaracchia in the world premiere of Giuseppe Lupis' Il Pianista Disgraziato with Apollo Opera in Bronx, NY.

Melissa's most recent performances include the roles of Sarah Souzay/Leonora Hue in the world premiere of Libby Moyer's Not A Tenor and Lady Angela in Gilbert & Sullivan's Patience with the Camp Hill Light Opera Festival in Mechanicsburg, PA in June 2013.

Melissa is currently working as a successful vocal teacher in Long Island, New York.
